My Mood Board

My mood board is supposed to represent my movie in that it is supposed to showcase the ugly behind the perfect and pretty facade of a girl's life. On the left side of the movie board, a feeling and mood of happiness, joy, youthfulness, energy, fun, and carelessness are showcased. Directly and noticeably contrasting this mood is the dark, gloomy, depressing, sad, feeling created by the pictures on the right side of the mood board. The contrasting and opposite sides are to showcase both sides of the main character of the movie and the internal conflict she faces. The world sees her as the perfect girl, fun, flirty, popular, and living the perfect high school experience with parties, friends, and all the other luxuries life has to offer. But... there is a side no one knows about. The side where she cries hysterically, where she struggles to carry all the pain in her life, the side of her that hides her pain. I chose these differing moods because they are so drastically different that it draws attention and creates drama.

The main characters are really just the girl as the focus of the movie. She would be the one that is being conveyed as the perfect girl with a troubling and private personal life. In addition, her best friend could also be seen as the main character, but mainly just a supporting character. The name of the main character, my group decided on is Rachel Gomez. Rachel will be the focus of the opening sequence as the audience follows her throughout the scene to get to know her character and discover deep details about her and her life. 

The setting my group and I decided to utilize is a house. Essentially the house will be broken up into different sub-settings. Overall, the house is where the opening sequence will take place as this is where the party scene is happening. Throughout the party taking place in the movie opening, the main character will move from place to place, such as outside(the backyard), the kitchen, the living room, and the bathroom. The house is significant in that this is where the whole opening sequence will take place, but the bathroom is more than notable because this is a turning point in the opening for the movie as the audience is able to see the main character alone and be vulnerable.

Being a drama, the movie is based on real-life and is supposed to replicate/mimic real life as much as possible. Therefore, what the characters wear arent necessarily going to seem like costumes. The clothes they wear will be relatable to other teenagers and people their age. The main character will probably be dressed to stand out from the crowd as she is the "it girl". Her attire will likely be more elevated probably made so through colors or more fashionable seeming clothes.

Extra/supporting character's costuming would likely be made to seem normal, and casual, being mainly jeans and a shirt.

The Main charcter woulkd wear a stand our color, like pink that embodies and showcases feminity abd the color pink is often assocated with populatiry and perfection suc as barbie or in the movie Mean Girls. Moreover the main charcter would wear an outfit that differs from the rest such as a dress.

The lighting for the opening for the movie will most likely be a little dimmer since the party will take place later in the day, but since it is a party there will likely be losts of lighting and bright lights to showcase the enegery and joy of the environment. The party is also suppose to showcase the main character's happy and perfect side of her life which is also a good stratigical resason to have bright lights with various colors. Moreover, when the main charcater is visibly showcasing vulnerbaility and struggle it would be best to use dimmer lights to match the sad tone. Lighting is a techniche and tool to best aid the movie and help convey the moods and tones for particular scenes so that the audicne is better ableto gauge the feelings of a scene. 

Some props my group and I discussed using include a red solo cup. The red solo cup is associated with the youth and parties since they are often present at most if not all social gatherings. This helps in making the scene feel like an authentic party. In addition, we discussed including make up props such as mascara and lipstick in order to symbolize the shallow and fakeness of the perfect person that the main charcater pretends to be. Even as she applies the makeup it would showcase her becoming this perfect character and hiding behind superficial supplements.
