The equipment that allowed us the freedom to imagine and then bring our ideas to life.

As mentioned in previous blogs, we used Alexa's dad's camera to film the entirety of the opening movie sequence. The camera used was a Canon EOS Rebel T3 and the use of this camera changed our whole filming game! Suddenly we were on a whole new top tier! The quality of the scenes we were filming was elevated and created a professional feel for the movie, changing it from the professionalism of a one to a ten(in terms of the looks and quality of the footage itself)!!! Initially, my group and I had decided to use my iPhone13 to film as that was the best quality we could think to offer at the time but Alexa's camera came to the rescue. The use of a professional filming camera gave us the level of professionalism we were missing. In addition,  Alexa also brought her father's Samsonite tripod which aided in the seamlessness of our camera movements and the stability of our camera angles. Overall, the use of such equipment allowed us the freedom to film whatever we so please and have such video footage look clean and of high quality. If we had to use my phone to film we would have been restricted in the shots we chose to film in that we would have been trying to avoid shakiness and low quality, but the use of Alexa's tripod and camera removed the need to have to worry about these issues and limiting factors!

In editing, we all decided that iMovie was the best method and platform to use for editing.  Alexa, having a Mac computer, was able to access IMovie easily since the application is already installed for Mac devices. Using iMovie proved to be challenging as it was difficult figuring out how to use it and produce the final product that we wanted. but eventually, Alexa managed to edit the video to glory!! Although the editing process was difficult, in the end, it was worth it and my group and I were satisfied and proud of our final opening movie sequence.

In using iMovie we had a range of choices for filters and tried filter after filter, but decided none were the right fit. We wanted to create a radiant, summer, fun, and vibrant feel to the movie and decided the best method of doing so was to increase the saturation. In making the movie opening highly saturated we were able to give the film opening the feeling and mood we intended. Although we didn't choose a primary filter for the main parts of our opening, we did use a filter to easily differentiate the flashback from the rest of the film opening. We used a filter actually labeled "flashback" which was ideal for the flashback components of the opening.

In addition, we also used a speaker to produce the background music. We thought about just adding music in the editing portion of the film process but decided that using a real speaker on filming day was just as effective and added a realistic and natural feel to the film opening. 

The main character's voice (aka her internal thoughts) was recorded using Alexa's phone and then was edited over the bathroom scene in order to give the feel on the audience being able to hear the main character's thoughts.

Overall, the equipment and applications we used for our film were vital in developing the final product of our film opening!
